both tendons are very long and very thick and they can become thick, irritable and sore over time. climbers tend to point the elbow outwards towards the wall to keep their back straight and put their shoulder in a “chest” position. this causes the elbow to move upwards and to the outside of the body. the arm is held in this position for many hours a day. this motion is highly repetitive and forces the tendons to move over and over. this causes the tendons to stiffen and eventually wear down. if the tendons are not properly rehabbed after the injury, it can lead to osteo tendinopathy. osteo tendinopathy is simply the wearing down of the tendon and it is the leading cause of climbers elbow.
